Lookin' fur a wee agent an' all that

Aye well, it looks like I might be ready tae dip ma big toe intae the world of publishing. I know. Scary stuff.

But sometimes hings just fall intae yer lap, like this wee gem that came free wi ma @Writing Magazine this month.

"How to Perfect Your Submission" by Scott Pack. I goggled him - he's a big wig and I fair enjoyed his advice.

He gies it to ye straight - nae nonsense. He's like - dinnae do that

man, it's no right.

Then he tells ye whit ye should be daein. Maist o' the dinnae's I wouldnae dae anyway but there were some really good tips in there.

Especially love the bit aboot the synopsis. He says: It's a simple summary of the plot. That's all it is."

But ma favourite line is this: "Your synopsis is cold, direct and functional. Writing it will probably do your head in."

Aye, ma heids like a punctured fitba' writing mines.

Joking aside, he does a nice wee example cover letter at the end o' the wee book, which I didnae notice at first tae be honest but I huv noo so ...next time.

If ye dinnae get @WritingMagazine yer missing oot. Guid stuff in there - an, well, dinnae ken aboot you but I love a freebie.
